Activities On The Emerald Coast

The Gulf is the main event. Parasailing, snorkeling, paddleboarding, and jet skiing are all available from the beach or the harbor, and the water is calm enough most mornings for beginners. Deep-sea fishing charters run out of HarborWalk Village daily half-day trips for families, full-day offshore runs for serious anglers. If you're traveling with kids, Big Kahuna's Water Park is open through the summer and the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park runs year-round. Henderson Beach State Park has 6,000 feet of undeveloped shoreline if you want to get away from the crowds.

Where To Eat In Destin

Destin has more good seafood restaurants per mile than almost anywhere on the Gulf Coast. The Boathouse Oyster Bar sits right on the water and serves Ms. Wanda's gumbo with fresh shrimp go early, it sells out. AJ's Seafood & Oyster Bar at HarborWalk is the spot for a cold drink and a view of the harbor. For breakfast, the Pancakery has become a local institution. The Crab Island Omelette, crumbled crab cake, bell peppers, cheese, and Hollandaise is worth the wait. In the evening, Mimmo's does Italian right: house-made pasta sauces, wood-fired pizza, and a room that fills up fast.

Shopping In Destin

Silver Sands Premium Outlets is one of Florida's largest outlet malls, with over 100 brands and good prices on everything from clothing to kitchenware. It's about ten minutes east of the harbor. Destin Commons is an open-air mall with colorful murals, a mix of national retailers and local shops, and plenty of places to eat when you need a break. HarborWalk Village combines shopping with waterfront dining and live entertainment it's worth an evening even if you don't buy anything.

Events

Annual Events Worth Planning Around

HarborWalk Village hosts most of Destin's big annual events. The Destin Fishing Rodeo runs the entire month of October and draws anglers from across the country competing across dozens of species. New Year's Eve brings fireworks over the harbor, and December's Boat Parade is a local tradition. Mardi Gras festivities run through February, and the summer holiday weekends, Memorial Day and Labor Day, are busy and festive. No matter when you visit, there's usually something happening on or near the water.

super grateful for michelle and my beach alibi! everything was explained perfectly and easy to do, from checking in and entering the house to getting the beach chairs and umbrellas set up. the accommodations included loads of cooking ware kitchen supplies, toiletries, a 2nd fridge in the garage, covered parking, and a load of extra beach chairs. would definitely stay here again!

We had the best time staying at Michelle’s place! The location is perfect with private beach access, very close to Norriego point, a short drive to tons of great restaurants and activities, and just overall a beautiful location! We loved being able to cook in the kitchen or grill by the pool. Being able to walk out to the beach and rent chairs and paddle boards right there was so perfect. The apartment was nice and clean and had a lot of natural light. We were so happy with our choice to stay there and would definitely stay again!
